Missing the Desert and the Open Road!

I am so ROAMSICK! The desert is calling and I’m stuck here killing time making necklaces. If it’s not the coronavirus causing a lockdown it’s some other crisis beyond our control. Life is so unpredictable!

Now for some bad news. I have an update on the trip planning front. It looks like we may have to rethink our fall vacation – work stuff is getting in the way again!

We’ve got our fingers crossed that we’ll be able to take a few weeks off before the end of the year. But if not we’re done with all this back and forth. We’re making changes come the first of the year (or sooner) that will relieve some excess work burden and make it much easier to plan and take time off like a normal family! Maybe we’ll even be able to burn up that extra 6+ weeks of vacation time we’ve had to bank over the last 3 1/2 years before we’re forced to cash it out or waste it on a bunch of long weekends.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I think vacation time should be spent traveling – not diming it out as a day off here and there where you just end up wasting it on an extra day of yardwork. I don’t think that I’m being unrealistic. If I am, well, I really feel sorry for the next generation!

Anyway, what’s in the past is going to be left there. Instead of repeating the same insane cycle of being in a constant holding pattern year after year it’s time to do something about it.

This is an exciting time for us. Change is always scary, but we’re looking forward and tossing the rearview mirror out the window! Love, Hope, and Happiness are the only things that really matter and we have plenty of all three!

A new post is coming out in a few days about the trip that caused us to start checking our priorities. Until then….
