Funny story. When I came up with the name for our website I thought I was being cleaver. The name was catchy; flowed off the tongue; was easy to remember; is actually who we are and hinted at the reason I created the site in the first place. So, I did a google search, found nothing remotely similar and decided to pull the trigger on it. TA-DA! FreetheMcGees became an official website.
Now apparently hubs and I have very different search patterns on the internet. Because my algorithm returned nothing, but that was not the case with his. After I paid all the plan fees, secured our logo, and did all the other “administrative tasks” that come with creating an online presence I get THE PHONE CALL. Hubs informed me that his web search returned a ton of hits about an incarcerated polygamist in the Midwest! OH THE HORROR! I had already set the whole ball in motion. There was no turning back. Long story short – it is what it is. Hopefully visitors quickly determine we are not associated with the other McGee or his peoples attempts to free him.
And so, here we go again. As you know I’ve been making beaded jewelry for some time now. I’m confident enough in my skill level to start selling my new pieces and stash that money away to help pay for our traveling adventures. I’ve been kicking around ideas for a name, but haven’t found the right one. Apparently there’s more to a name than Juliet could ever imagine when she was hanging out on that balcony deluded by young love!
Now my money making adventure is stuck in the mud until I get past this little hurdle, and with hub’s making the big move to the new position that will allow us to make vacation plans and actually keep them happening very soon, well, I need to get unstuck quick!
So far I have one, but it seems a bit long for people to type in on their phones, which is how the younger crowd (and everyone else except us dinosaurs who still use a laptop) navigate the internet for their purchases. I was trying to come up with something that hints at the fact that I’ll be making this jewelry while we are traveling and that the jewelry helps to fund our adventures. The thought crossed my mind that I could just sell it on this site, but I don’t know if that would become confusing for new visitors. So please, if you have any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions about this matter, they are more than welcomed!
