Great News Regarding Filming in National Parks

As of this week the National Park Service has issued new guidance regarding permit requirements for filming inside National Parks. I won’t go into the specifics of the court rulings that required the National Park Service to change their stance, but I will say that the little guy won for a change!

National Park Service announces interim guidance for filming in parks – Office of Communications (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

For those of us who have tried to obey the rules regarding filming inside of National Parks this is great news. We are now equals with those who ignored the rules and we can now freely enjoy our first amendment rights of artistic expression. Going forward it will be a great source of pleasure to be able to showcase the outstanding beauty and heritage of these precious lands while sharing the story of our travel experiences!

Now let’s hope that this new guidance from the National Park Service helps other public land managers streamline and clarify their policies.
